Last month, I transformed a kitchen island from Target. Ultimately, I wanted the piece to look worn down and aged. The picture below shows the assembled island with a darker tope. Before this makeover, I aged the raw wood top using a mixture of vinegar and steel wool.

To give the base a makeover, I used a combination of matte latex paint, walnut oil, and a sanding block. I love how it turned out and that the wood distressing is more subtle and realistic looking.
