Compare the lettering, symbols and layout with the mark on your piece.

RPCo abbreviates Roseville Pottery Company. This Rozane name mark is associated with the early decorated brownware line. It differs from the applied clay labels used on other Roseville lines.

Read the monogram as Rv: a large R paired with a smaller v. The compact lettering differs from the second Rv example and from the fully written Roseville script.

This shield carries the Roseville Pottery name without an Rv monogram. That absence distinguishes it from the other shield label shown in this collection.

Check whether the script stands above the surface or is cut into it. Roseville used both raised and impressed script marks. Shape and size numbers are separate identifiers and may accompany the name on the base.

The smaller letter is a v, not a P. Compare its position and the curve of the larger R with the other Rv example; the two illustrations show different letterforms.

The shield combines the Roseville Pottery name with an Rv monogram. The small v beneath the larger R distinguishes it from the text-only shield label.
