Identification guidance

Before 1949, Heywood-Wakefield used paper labels in inconspicuous areas like the back or underside of pieces. Due to age and wear, many of these labels deteriorated or detached.

During this period, the company often used slotted screws in their furniture assembly. The presence of slotted screws and the absence of the black Heywood-Wakefield stamp can be an indicator of pre-1949 Heywood-Wakefield pieces.
