About the Maker

Buffalo Pottery was established in 1901 by the Larkin Company in Buffalo, New York, to produce ceramic premiums for its thriving mail-order soap business. It soon expanded beyond promotional wares to manufacture durable semi-vitreous dinnerware, decorative art pottery, and institutional china for railroads and hotels. The name “Buffalo China” began appearing on wares by the late 1940s, with the company officially adopting the Buffalo China name in 1956. It was later acquired by Oneida Ltd. in 1983 and ceased operations in 2004.
